Sarah E Melville was born in Fresno, California in 1989, and still resides there with her family and two cats, Baby's Breath and the Fat One. She's been an artist for as long as she can remember, and started writing seriously at the age of thirteen. To date she has written two full-length novels and is working on a handful (or two) of others, along with a screenplay and a poetry anthology.

Beautiful Things that Happen to Ugly People is her first book, a mix of art and literature that blurs the lines between poetry and prose, reality and unreality, to serve the heart in the unifying experience of being alive. It was written from the point of view of her alter ego Paulie, a young man very much in love, but also very sad.

She is honoured to be a part of the Year Zerø Writers collective. Her work appears in their anthologies Brief Objects of Beauty and Despair and Thirteen Shadows Waiting for Sunrise, both available as free downloads, as well as on their live blog.
